Wilmot’s Stiller Women’s Wrestling Champion

Wilmot High school senior, Mackenzie Stiller won the 145 pound Wisconsin Wrestling Federation (WWF) Womens High School Folkstyle State Championship on February 11th in Poynette, WI.

She is the first, and only, women’s state champion from here in The County.  Stiller started wrestling at age 8.  Her mom wanted to keep her on the right path.  And now the local kid from Twin Lakes is a state champion.

Now graduated, Stiller will begin her coaching career with the Panther (kids) Wrestling Club, and working with the young girls who are new to the sport.  (Parents take note)

 

Wilmot High School wrestling coach John Watson said, “Mac was an outstanding athlete and judo player when she walked in the door.  Her great attitude and warrior mentality allowed her to make the transition to folk style wrestling.”

Coach Watson added, “when I remember Mac I’ll always remember the expression of surprise, fear, and awe on boys faces every time she threw them or pinned them, at practice or in a match.”

Biggest win = As soph, was losing a match, late in 3rd period, by 10 points.  Then came back to pin her opponent.

 

To parents considering the sport for their child: “Kids learn discipline and toughness.  The sport is safer than people think.  We get hurt, but rarely are there injuries.”
