Lady Falcons Flying High in Playoffs

The Westosha Central girl’s basketball team hasn’t won a playoff game in over a decade.

All that changed on Friday night as the 19-6 Lady Falcons over-powered and over-pressured a tough and tall Fort Atkinson team 63-44 in front of a rowdy home crowd at the Falcon’s Nest.

The Lady Falcons trailed 18-17 with 2:25 remaining in the first half, then went on an 8-0 run to go into the break, leading 25-18. Evie Hinze energized the crowd and her team with 6 consecutive points, as Central increased their lead to 35-20 just two and half minutes into the second half and never looked back.

Hinze finished with 16 points, and power forward Reese Rynberg added 15 points while cleaning the glass on both ends of the court.

The Falcons will go on the road Saturday night to face 18-7 Waukesha West for the regional championship. Waukesha West beat Milton Friday night 82-52.

A road victory would give the Lady Falcons a school record 20 wins in a season.
