All Hands on Deck for 2020 Falcons

Program Grows Instantly with New Coach Franz

The Central Falcons kickoff at 7pm tonight, at Lake Geneva Badger.

At first it was only about a dozen, may-be 15 guys. Before you knew it, it grew to 20-25. And when we were doing that, it wasn’t just football. I was just going up to the weight room, and saying that, any athlete that is not in season, come on up. We had cross-country guys up there. We had football guys. There were track athletes, baseball [players] . So trying to build a culture of, hey you know what, play all the sports. Be a three-sport athlete. So, fortunately, there’s been some renewed interest. And not only that, but we’ve had some guys who didn’t play the last few years. Haven’t played since may-be 7th or 8th grade. Or haven’t played ever, and are coming out playing for the first time. So our numbers are looking really good. And it has been great in terms of increasing the amount of competition on the roster.”

Jared Franz is now the head coach at Central. He starts his first season with 115 players in the program. And he has some blue-chip athletes crossing over from other sports.

Michael Mulhollon is currently ranked as the #1 left-handed pitcher in the state of Wisconsin. The 6’4″ monster will start at quarterback. He has a strong and accurate arm, has hit 86+ on the radar gun, and has recently committed to play college baseball at Wichita State University.

Jack Rose is the #3 ranked basketball recruit in the state, and is currently being recruited by Wisconsin, Iowa, and Marquette. The 6’4′ Rose will play split end in Jared Franz’s offense, and will be a match-up nightmare for SLC cornerbacks. The Falcons also run a formation with Rose lined up opposite of 6’3′ basketball standout Kenny Garth. The featured back in the offense will be junior captain and speed merchant Ean Daniels.

Defensively Franz really likes what he sees in junior DE Jakob Simmons. “Jakob Simmons is a kid that there is no ceiling to his potential on the defensive side. I have coached some really good defensive linemen in my short (13+ yrs) career. And I hope he is amongst the Mt Rushmore of them. He hasn’t played it before, so it’s a little bit of a learning curve. But he’s big, he’s strong, and he’s aggressive.

At linebacker, Franz said, “We have a senior, Jacob Seward. He’s one of those 3-sport athlete guys. He wrestles. He does track and field. And, he can run…… He’s been awesome. He’s quiet as can be. But he just works really hard. And he’ll do whatever you ask him.

When asked about the competitive presence of Jack Rose in that locker room, Franz said clearly, “Not just Jack. But the guys who have been part of this basketball program, you know, they expect to be successful. This basketball program has been pretty good for a while, and just coming here and learning the culture, it has been awesome, to have guys coming from a successful program, and interject, not only the confidence, but just that edge of like, ‘we’re here to take care of business’. And they are super-serious about it….. Football is a different animal, but they are tough. All those basketball guys, and there are several. I am really excited.”

Franz had this to say about the top competition in the Southern Lakes Conference, “The teams in our conference are always re-loading. You look at Waterford, and they always seem to have two all-state-level running backs. And you go ‘okay, may-be next year’, and next thing you know, they are just re-loading with guys. That’s what good programs do. They develop players, and they’re ready every year, no matter who goes. With that said, I still have a couple guys over there at Wilmot, who I coached, who I know are going to be on the varsity squad this year, and they are going to be tough. They are going to be ready for a dog fight…. It’s a good conference.

Zach Kazumura (#7) puts on a juke move after a short catch outside the numbers. The junior speed-demon is going to get a lot of open space underneath the coverage when opposing safeties and corners realize that single coverage isn’t going to work on Kenny Garth or Jack Rose downfield.
Falcon football is on the rise. New head coach, Jared Franz, has promoted the idea of kids playing multiple sports, and he has 115 kids who want to be on his ship.
Junior Kenny Garth (#7) leaps to haul in this deep pass during the Falcon scrimmage on Friday night. Garth has great hands and leaping ability to go with his 6’3″ frame.
Team captain, Ean Daniels (#28), bursts into the second level during Friday’s scrimmage. Daniels will start the season as the featured running back in Jared Franz’s offense.
Jack Rose (#11) blows by the coverage and hauls in this 40-yard bomb for a touchdown in Fridays scrimmage. Rose is currently ranked as the #3 basketball recruit in the state of Wisconsin. He will make his HS football debut tonight, at Badger High.
Three of our captains are offensive linemen. ( Mason McNeill, Cameron Humphrey, Tommy Francis) And that just speaks to their dedication in the off-season, their commitment to the program. They’ve got some experience under their belts. We return several guys from last year. The O-line, that’s where it starts, and ends. If you can’t be strong up front, it’s tough to design any X’s and O’s,” said Franz.
Southpaw = Michael Mulhollon (#11) fires this pass during Friday’s scrimmage. He is ranked as the #1 left handed pitcher in the state of Wisconsin, and has recently committed to play college baseball at Wichita State University.

The Falcon varsity game is tonight at 7pm, at Lake Geneva Badger. (Fri. Sept 25th)

Good luck Falcons!
