Ellie Witt Takes the Devil By the Horns

With her Lady Falcons trailing Bradford by a whopping 21 points at halftime, Central head coach Mindy Stewart knew she had to make a change. She decided to turn loose her senior guard, Ellie Witt, and it paid off big.

Witt took total command of the Red Devils after the break. She scored 23 points in the second half, led all scorers, played tenacious defense down the stretch, and the Lady Falcons came back from a 39-18 deficit, on the road, to win 56-55 on Tuesday night.

Ellie Witt (#10) led all scorers with 23 points. The senior came up big, on both offense and defense, after coach Stewart decided to change things up in the second half.

On offense, it was the Ellie and Ellie show as sophomore point guard, Ellie Reynolds, chipped in with 19 points, and they each drained five 3-pointers on the night. Coach Stewart said those huge shots from the Ellie’s pumped up junior Jillian Adams (+16, 9 Reb, 2 Stl), sophomore Riley Spencer (+11, 4 Stl), and freshman Reese Rynberg (+9, 8 Reb) to play intense, full-court, man defense in the final minutes, and shut down the RedDevils to seal the come-from-behind victory.

The Lady Falcons next play this Friday, Jan 17th, at Union Grove High at 7pm.

On Friday, January 24th, the Lady Falcons will host Wilmot at 5:30 pm, followed immediately (7pm) by the boys varsity teams in the battle of the county, at Central High.
