Panther Wrestling Club Gets New Home

Registration Now Open

The Panther Wrestling Club has a new home.

The wrestlers will now practice at First There Training Facility at 344 E. Main Street, in Twin Lakes.

With the Panthers stable loaded with state champions and All-Americans still on the rise, head coach CJ Vroman knew he had to have a training facility available 24/7 for his top-shelf wrestlers.

When COVID hit in March, his club practices were completely shut down. Later, as COVID restrictions started to ease up, Vroman was still at the mercy of the school on when he could get his wrestlers back into live practice.

Neighboring clubs were practicing at their private facilities, while the Panther Wrestling Club was kept out of their own room in Wilmot High School due to COVID safety precautions.

So when COVID shut everything down, Vroman started looking for places where the kids could get back to live wrestling.  “Having my own place allows me to expand, build, move, adapt, and evolve, with my wrestlers, and with the community,” he said.

The new facility will feature two teams. The “First There Team” will be an experienced travel team that practices (4) times a week and wrestles in more national level tournaments.

The Panther Wrestling Club will cater to the more beginner and intermediate wrestlers, and compete in more local tournaments, such as East Troy, Kenosha, Sussex, and Fort Atkinson, and only practice (2) times per week. Coach Vroman is excited about the opportunity for the First There team to compete against different wrestlers at the national events, outside the SE Wisconsin region . “It is very good to have people of different places and different experiences to come together and to train together, and wrestle.  One thing people forget about with wrestling, it is an international sport.  More than most other American sports.  And it still has international roots and ties.  Other countries don’t do sports like we do here in America.  So if you’re going to be involved in a sport that is still very international based, then you need to understand that it is going to operate like that.  So, the more voices, the more wrestlers from different areas, that have different styles and things, that you wrestle with, the more experience you get, the better you get.  So, why limit ourselves to just within our little borders here?  Why not open it up, and see what kind of experience, and what we can expose ourselves to?,” he said.

Vroman emphasized that Panther Wrestling Club is the main team during the Dec-Feb season. He said, “Let’s put it this way, if you’re a 4-days-a-week wrestler, and your wrestling multiple places, or on these travel teams for wrestling, you need to be up in the First There.   If you’re getting into wrestling, and if you’re competitive in wrestling, but you don’t do anything besides the local tournaments, you can stay down in Panther.  I might try to pull you up.  I might pick at you, to try to get you to come up, but you can stay down in Panther, and that’s going to maintain pretty much like it was.”

Panther Wrestling Club is a great deal that breaks down to about $5 per class, for 13 weeks.
