Locals Strong in Bristol 5K

Bristol’s Bryce Mogensen, 21, was the defending champion heading into Saturday’s 5K Progress Days race. This year Mogensen finished 2nd, and is our local champion, while Milwaukee’s Andre Stewart, 31, was the overall champion with a time of 20:07. “I just rolled out of bed and came over here. I don’t train,” Mogensen said. He jumped out and set the pace during the first half. But when they came out of the turn, and up the big hill at Hansen Park, Stewart had made his move, and continued to separate on the climb.

Salem’s Kady Magnuson was the women’s champion with a time of 24:52. My race MVP goes out to Bristol’s John Leverington, listed as 67 years old. This guy is super-charged, and ran a 24:35!
