About

This news site is about the people of Western Kenosha County who are in the game – any game.  If someone is keeping score, then it is a game.   This is going to be a fun site.  It will not be written in typical and boring AP style.  The stories will be to the point, and the pictures will be plentiful.  We have recent national champions in our Aqua-Nuts water ski team and our Southern Lakes Blue Devils football team.  We have big-time thrill facilities here in the county with Wilmot Mountain, Digger’s Compound, Great Lakes Dragaway and Wilmot Raceway.  We have legendary and longtime championship winning coaches in Bob Leitza (Kenosha Komets) and Mike Gentile (Jr Panthers football).  There is a lot going on here, in the county, that people don’t know about.  I am going to pick up the crumbs, and bring them to you.  We are going to have a grand buffet on these crumbs!

If we have a kid who goes to a chess championship, then I want to cover the results.  If we have a local mixed martial arts fighter, then I want to cover the bouts.  If people want to submit a link with their marathon or triathlon results, then I want to post them, and put up fun rankings.  If we have someone going out to Las Vegas to compete in the World Series of Poker, then I want to post updates while they are out there.   I’d love to post updates and stats from our local athletes on college campuses.   I will also post results and updates from our local adult horseshoe, pool, and darts leagues.  I will seek out the non-traditional sports.  This site will cover so much more than just basketball, football, and softball.

MY MISSION:  Create a publication that solidifies our community, and gets more people in the game, by recognizing the accomplishments of our hometown competitors, and those who pave the way for their opportunities and triumphs.

Our footprint covers western Kenosha County (Westosha), using the existing borders to the north, south, and west, and stopping at interstate 94 on the east.

Contact = To share any results or local sports nuggets, you can email: sportsmanship94@yahoo.com.  Please type “Results” in the title.   I am still playing catch-up, while running into new obstacles.  I have built this thing all by myself, and I am learning on the fly.  Hopefully fans can be patient, because it is going to get better and better every day.  And there are a lot of surprises coming.

I love kids.  I love sports.  I love writing.  I love talking to people about sports.  I hold a degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Language Arts.  I began sports writing as a golf beat writer with The Chronicle, at the College of Lake County.  I have most recently written for Westofthei.  I am currently a certified official in the sports of football, wrestling, softball, and lacrosse.  I have officiated many of our local kids in competition.  I have been in the heat of the battle with many of our local coaches.  I work with many of our teachers as a substitute for several local schools.  I also work (and play) at Wilmot Mountain.
