Du Chemin State Wrestling Champion

The secret is out.

Randall 4th grader, William Du Chemin, won the WWF state wrestling tournament at the Alliant Center in Madison on March 23rd and 24th.

William Du Chemin scores near-fall points at Rumble Under The Lights.

The 9-year-old has now won back-to-back titles.  Winning at 57 pounds this year, and at 51 pounds in 2017.

The local media snub of his championship is the inspiration to create The County 94.  And now, we here at The County 94, are proud to introduce William Du Chemin to the county.

Du Chemin, a member of the Wilmot Panther Wrestling Club, finished his season with a 65-15 record, after going 72-11 in 2016-17.  He often wrestles in heavier weight classes during the regular season, to find tougher matches, and to get the feel versus stronger opponents.

It was near impossible to score against Du Chemin once the wrestling play-offs started.  He shut out his competition at the Staughton Qualifier.

  • beats Landon Henry (Milton Monsters)  TF 15-0
  • pins Brayden Garey (Janesville)  0:45 seconds
  • beats Zechariah Bair (Sugar River)   Major  11-0

Then, he only gave up only one point during the entire state tournament.

  • beats Logan Schad (Kiel)   Major  11-0
  • pins Johnny Wissbroecker (Antigo)  0:13 seconds
  • pins Landen Bogard (Elkhorn)  0:29 seconds
  • beats Evan Lesselyong (Hortonville)  dec 5-1

Coach CJ Vroman said that William has natural ability, strength, and knowledge of hip movement that most 4th graders do not have.   “He is at a young age,” he acknowledged, “but he has an unbelievable desire to put in the work at the highest level.  He is consistent, and he can put everything aside, mentally, to get into his matches.”

Du Chemin scoops a ground ball at 3rd base.

In the summer months, William takes a break from wrestling and is a standout baseball player for the Genoa City Predators.  He is the team’s lead-off hitter, and also pitches in the Predator rotation.
