Countians on Campus

Recognizing the accomplishments of our local student athletes competing at the college level.

Sophomore Reid McNeill (Bristol) is my #1 choice to kickoff this new category. The 2018 Central grad is a two-sport athlete (football & wrestling) at Concordia University Wisconsin. He has earned 2020 CCIW Academic All-Conference honors in wrestling, after finishing a full season on the football team. He also earned academic all-conference honors in 2019.

Wilmot grad, Haley Lamberson (Silver Lake), is playing softball for the University of Missouri -St Louis. The freshman outfielder started the final five UMSL games before the COVID lock-down, and batted .333 in those games. She was also perfect in stolen bases. Look fer her to carry that momentum into 2021. https://umsltritons.com/sports/softball/roster/haley-lamberson/1702team site photo
Defenseman, Luke Shurtleff (Trevor), is playing college hockey at Winona State University. The freshman has played big minutes, and finished the season with 3 goals and 6 assists in 23 games. He scored a goal in the final game of the season (above, in clip). Shurtleff is a 2019 Wilmot grad, and played his youth hockey with the Kenosha Komets.
Dylan Anderson (Trevor) was a big contributor for the 2019-20 Dominican University (IL) basketball team. The freshman played in all 25 games. He was the 4th leading scorer and second leading rebounder. Most importantly, he had the least amount of turnovers amongst the top 8 teammates (in minutes played). https://dustars.com/sports/mens-basketball/statsteam site photo
Madi Zerr (Bristol) is pitching for the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. The 2019 Wilmot grad has appeared in four of six games played (before the COVID lock-down). She pitched 10.0 innings with a 2.10 ERA and four strikeouts. She was called in to pinch-hit once, and drew a bases-loaded walk to pick up an RBI. https://blugolds.com/sports/sball/2019-20/bios/zerr_madi_7h3q team site photo
Kyle Gendron (Silver Lake) is in his sophomore season pitching for Winona State University. The workhorse from Wilmot HS has started 4 games and has a 1-0 record. Gendron pitched an absolute gem vs Wayne State on March 7th. He threw 6 scoreless innings, giving up only 3 hits, while striking out eight. He exited the game with a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the next relief pitcher blew the save opportunity and served up two 3-run homers, leaving Gendron with a no-decision. https://winonastatewarriors.com/sports/baseball/roster/kyle-gendron/9731 team site photo
