Central Boys Win Conference in Finale

The Central boy’s basketball team needed a win on Thursday night to clinch the Southern Lakes Conference title.

Sophomore Jack Rose scored 26 points and the Falcons beat host Wilmot 69-59.

Wilmot charged out to a 21-15 lead with 8 minutes remaining in the first half. But three minutes later, Central would tie up the score at 23-23 on a long 3-pointer by Rose. The Falcons went into halftime with a 33-29 lead.

In the second half Central added to the lead. Junior, Corey Hinze, scored 10 of his 17 points, while going 6 for 6 from the line. Sophomore, Bradley Bell, blocked several shots, played stout defense in the middle, and dropped in six of his ten points.

Wilmot junior, London Glass, led the Panthers with 14 points.

Both teams will now prepare for the WIAA playoffs, with #8 Wilmot hosting #9 Jefferson on Tuesday, March 3rd. Central (4th seed) will open their playoffs on Friday, March 6th with a home game vs #5 Milton.

Wilmot junior, Jared Camp (#23), sinks this little back-door floater for two of his 10 points. Wilmot opens the playoffs on Tuesday, with a home game vs Jefferson at 7pm.
Wilmot sharp-shooter, Kevin Sandman (#24), looks to drive the baseline in the second half on Thursday night. The junior finished with 12 points.
