Panther Featherweights to Super Bowl

The Jr Panther featherweight football team beat Kaneland 14-0 on Saturday, and now moves on to the TCYFL Super Bowl, 3:30pm, this Saturday at Mundelein HS. The featherweights (4th/5th graders) will play the championship game against the Waukegan Bulldogs. Waukegan is on a two-game winning streak since losing a tight battle, 12-7, in their regular season finale to WKC.

Head coach, Brent Brenner, credited his assistant coaches for the semi-final win over Kaneland, after losing to them on Oct 20th. “They spent a lot of time and energy watching film and coming up with a great game-plan. They had the kids ready to play, and believing in themselves,” said Brenner.

He added, “We knew we had to make adjustments (from Oct 20 loss) to have a chance to win. We spent the week working on different defensive schemes and assignments, and our defense rose to the challenge. Offensively we had great offensive line play.”

The offensive line consists of: center Devan Grasso (#23), guards Jaxon Wise (#9), Ivan Misicka (#30), tackles Mykol Tracy (#84), Aliya Corona (#31), and tight ends Adymn Bergum (#16) and Cole Cullen (#45).
